The Donald C. & Elizabeth M. Dickinson Research Center's digital collections primarily focus on the photographic collections of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, encompassing topics such as the history of rodeo and the diverse American West as well as western popular culture and art.
Primary resources are a reflection of their time and may be visually disturbing or have language that is harmful.

- The John Zeransky Western Film Ephemera Collection consists of silent and western movie advertisement materials. Materials include arcade cards, postcards, lobby cards, advertising cards (trading cards), Dixie Cup lids, and milk lids. The collection spans the date range 1910 to 1969.

- This collection contains photographs of Johnnie Lee Wills and Bob Wills.

- Late Nineteenth Century Texas Ranching Photographs
- This collection contains silver gelatin prints, albumen prints, collodion print-out paper prints, and nitrate negatives. The images show cowboys working cattle, including branding, as well as bullfighting, matadors, ranches, including the V V N Ranch and the XIT Springlake Ranch. There are family portraits as well.

- Leonard Stroud Collection
- The photographs in this collection show trick ropers and riders Leonard Stroud and his wife Mayme Saunders Stroud performing their acts at rodeos in the 1920s and 1930s. It also features other rodeo contestants and entertainment acts.

- Linda M. Davis Collection
- This collection contains one map of Colfax and Mora Counties in New Mexico.

- Lt. Colonel John M. Hamilton Papers
- Lt. Colonel John M. Hamilton was a soldier whose career spanned almost 40 years, from the Civil War through the Indian Wars, until finally ending with his death on San Juan Hill during the Spanish-American War. This collection contains photographs and drawings from the late 19th century.

- Luis Ortega Collection
- This collection contains photographs from Luis Ortega, famous for his leather braiding. The photographs show Ortega throughout his life and date from circa 1900-1987.

- This collection has photographs, copy photographs, and transparencies. Most are rodeo related, many focusing on David Shellenberger.

- The Mike Leslie Collection contains postcards featuring Native Americans.

- Monte Reger Rodeo Papers Collection
- The Monte Reger Rodeo Papers Collection features negatives, photographs, and transparencies documenting Monte Reger’s career. Monte Reger was a rodeo announcer and entertainer, most known for his rodeo act with his longhorn bull, Bobby. Click here for more information about this collection.
