Nineteenth Century Photographs
This collection contains eighteen (18) photographs, with the majority being cabinet cards. There is also one tintype and one 20th-century photo of a soldier.
Cabinet photographs were popular in the late 1800s because they were less expensive than earlier types of photography, and they were easier to display. Like the name suggests, they were often placed in glass-front cabinets in parlors or receiving rooms of people’s homes.
