"About 2:00 A.M. on May 21 [1875], the train entered the pine woods and dense palmetto growth along the Florida border...Later that day, the passengers disembarked at Jacksonville, Florida, and boarded a steamer to Tocoi. They walked a gangplank to board the boat, which carried them up the St. Johns River to another train station. Appearing weathered and ill from their harrowing ride, the taxied on the St. Johns Railway for the final twenty miles." - from Brad D.
